Making our home surroundings feel relaxing and comforting has never been more important than now and can help us to stay sane together during these strange and uncertain times. Whether you are planning to finish up a few outstanding home projects or completely make over a new room, taking some time to create a sanctuary within our homes has many benefits. Not only can it help us feel occupied and creatively purposeful during this time but it can also give us a small or big (depending on the size and scale of your decorating project) sense of achievement. Pre covid we were all so busy getting on with life that we probably didn’t give much thought to how decorating made us feel, but now these small personal wins can go a long way towards helping our mental wellbeing.
Lockdown Decorating Mood Boards

Some are bright and bold, some more subtle and some are dark and moody. When choosing colours for a room finding a wallpaper you like can be a great starting point. Start by focusing on the colours and hues within the design that you are most drawn to and collect and curate images from different sources, add in samples to build up your own mood board. I find colour inspiration from all sorts of sources such as texture, architecture, photography and nature, particularly on Pinterest (more on Pinterest later).
